Guns are simply tools. There are multiple types of screwdrivers, but that doesn’t mean you use a phillips for every job. And just like tools, there is no single firearm or tool to rule them all. Having the right firearm for the job makes everything better and sometimes a semi-automatic rifle is exactly what the job calls for.

The semi-auto action of an AR-15 (AR stands for Armalite Rifle, the original manufacturer in 1950 of the model 15 rifle) is ideal for quick follow up shots and perfect for certain hunting situations. In fact, my first hunting rifle was an AR platform rifle and I absolutely loved it. But I digress. AR-15’s or commonly known by some today as Modern Sporting Rifles are a firearm that I believe needs to be in every collection and are great for hunting as well.

About Seekins Precision

Add a 3″ arca rail to the m-lok handguard and you are rock solid for all hunting and shooting applications

Seekins Precision was founded by Glen Seekins in 2004-2005. He first developed and designed a set of scope rings to replace a set that broke, costing him the opportunity of a harvest while hunting.  After purchasing his first CNC machine and having success with scope rings, Glen moved into creating what Seekins Precision was next known for and that is high quality billet made AR-15 lower and upper receiver sets. This is where I came to learn about Seekins Precision.

A few things that set Seekins Precision apart from other AR manufacturers is their unlimited lifetime warranty which transfers with the weapon and their accuracy guarantee. The accuracy guarantee is dependent upon the satisfaction of the shooter. If for any reason you are unsatisfied with the rifle, Seekins Precision will take care of you which I view as a huge selling point.

The oversized trigger guard is a nice feature of the billet lower when shooting in cold weather while wearing gloves along with the ambidextrous bolt release

About the NX15

The NX15 is a firearm that shoots well and even though it weighs 7 lbs., it still feels light in hand. At first appearance, the hard lines of the receiver set and handguard are appealing to the eye and naturally draw you in. When you hold the rifle for the first time and pull on the Seekins DNA charging handle, you realize the attention to detail in all the machined parts of the lower. From the texture to the ambidextrous bolt catch the fit and feel of the rifle stands out.

AR-15’s are like a grown man’s barbie doll that you can accessorize anyway you like. With that said, the foundation of the NX15 is the matching billet receiver set. Billet receivers are typically more expensive because they are machined out of one solid piece of aluminum. This is how Seekins is able to machine the hard lines along with their oversized trigger guard in the lower, which saves you money by not needing to buy aftermarket parts. The other nice feature is the skeletonized lower, which is hard to see in the pics I provided but you can click on this link for a better view.

The NX15 comes with their 15″ NOX MLOK handguard which includes QD sling mounts and balances the rifle nicely over the 16″ barrel. The gun also comes with their own adjustable gas block which allows you to tune your rifles gas system to your exact liking and helps when adding suppressors on the barrel. I love hunting and shooting suppressed so I removed their NEST flash hider and added a Huxwrx QD mount for my FLOW 556K.

On their website, they mention “Due to industry-wide shortages, purchased components not manufactured by Seekins Precision may vary.” So when it comes to the stock, handle and trigger, those items could be different from what you see here in this article.

When squeezing the trigger I noticed right away that it was not your standard mil-spec trigger and that it was aftermarket of some kind. The trigger specifications or type is not listed on the website but I did find out that it is a Trigger Tech AR competitive trigger. It has very little creep and a solid crisp break with a short reset. The trigger pull weight is a good balance between what you would want for hunting and overall shooting enjoyment. I did not measure the pull weight, but it was substantially lighter. Overall the gun looks great, shoots phenomenal and will be a great addition to any gun safe that it enters.

Notice the beautiful lines of the machined bolt catch, safety lever and the upper receiver. I attached velcro to the lower for an external battery pack when thermal hunting
The DNA charging handle on the NX15 is not ambidextrous but does look and feel great
